Jim Phillips, Botannical Services
People who look closely at movie credits will perhaps be familiar with the title of Botanical Services.
These are the people on location who make sure that Nature, in all its chaos and messy splendor, is kept under control, and shaped to best suit the needs of the production.
While it may come as a surprise to some that leaves fall from trees, it is the job of the Botanical Services staff to make sure that those leaves fall in specific numbers, in the right place, and at the right speed.
The tools of the Botanical Services expert include: rakes, gaffer tape, string, clippers, fire-producing magnifying lenses, and white glue.
The next time you watch movie credits look for Botanical Services, and if you need such service call us.
Although most Botanical Services work does take place outside, there is a considerable amount of work done in-studio as well.
This example (right) is from the FCS production of Universal Remote Control.
What would cable talk shows be without the ubiquitous plant in the background? Or how many interviews would have been ruined if not for the potted plant with the gel-filtered “cutter” on them in the corner?
Botanical Services, no shoot should be without them!
