This motion graphics sequence was designed by Full Circle staff for the 2006 BETA (Buffalo/Niagara Emerging Technology Awards) presentation. The theme of the show, which was created by FCS, was the 1st Tech Olympiad, a spoof the the Olympics, humorously taking a look at what IT techies & execs might do in an athletic competition.
By taking several visual elements and layering/compositing them in AfterEffects, we were able to simulate much “higher end” graphics that networks would accomplish by expensive hardware effects systems.
You will also notice that some of the elements are in Standard Screen ratio of 4:3, and that the final composite was presented in Widescreen 16:9 screen aspect ratio. The narrower elements were cropped and placed in boxes to fit the new aspect.

You may also note the greenscreen elements that were recorded at WGRZ-TV, Channel 2 NBC in Buffalo. These elements had to be taken into AfterEffects to remove the green background and add the stadium and waterfront archival footage, both of which were moving elements. Many thanks to WGRZ-TV for being good sports about poking fun at network tv programming.
The entire sixty-minute show included almost “wall-to-wall” graphics, including 2D & 3D animation, titles, nominee & winner logos and lists, lower-thirds, and transitional elements.
Now we just have to figure out how to top this show next year!
